Filmmaker Bio
Though I show you proof that I can capture beautiful images; I also want to let you into what I deem is the most important part of my art: my ability to politicize my work to create powerful visual stories that challenge thoughts, connect people, and spark conversation.
Since entering the workforce, I concluded that my dream job is not at a desk; it is one that allows me to collaborate with others in various settings. My dream job is a lifetime journey of telling visual stories that raise conversations about prominent global issues in a creative way. In its simplest terms: I want to capture life in its purest form.
In the winter of 2017, I started my visual arts career at CAN TV, a local nonprofit public access television network, I taught local Chicagoans how to effectively communicate their stories and how to use the tools in our studio to effectively broadcast their mission across our network and other social platforms. After 2 years at CAN TV I had mastered every possible task and my managers became complacent with the current community outreach efforts; challenges came to a halt for me. I wanted to gain more technical skills and use them in a tactical way to tell stories and reach people. I complained about my job, so I made an exit plan and moved on to get my Masters in cinematography.
Live Broadcasting at the Chicago Access Corporation (CAN TV) | Bilingual host
This collection of videos showcases the interviews I conducted with the local people of Chicago, we discussed multifarious topics such as immigration, art, and local politics.
CAN TV has a potential to reach 1 million viewers across the world. It broadcasts live to local channels in Chicago, and shares its live stream with the world wide web. The topics I discussed with local constituents are very important for the progression of Chicago and the United States as a whole.
This experience allows me to plan specific projects for each video and execute it on live TV.

Short Documentary | Frontier Gap Year for the Marketing Team
Produced this short documentary independently with my own footage using iMovie, Lumix digital camera, and a GoPro. It captured most of my experience, but it was made for a wider audience interested in conservation and cultural-immersion. Click here to watch it.

TechCamp| U.S Department of State
TechCamp is a global educational conference that provides local leaders the opportunity to learn how to use technology to fix their organization's most pressing issues. The U.S Department of State works hand in hand with global embassies to tailor each TechCamp to meet the needs of each country.
My role as a Video Diplomat Corps Intern is to transform TechCamp policies and information into engaging visual stories. Alongside my supervisor at the Department of State, we generate scripts that will be used as voice over in the videos I produce.
The first video was created to support the TechCamp trainers as they prepare their workshops for the conference. The second video was tailored to inform participants of things they can expect during the TechCamp. I created an English version of the participant video and one with Portuguese subtitles.
